Latest Update & Transfer Option Website
Dear Lourdes Students,
As we navigate this transition together, we want to make sure you have a clear picture of the options available to help you continue your education and finish what you started. We have published a website, that can be found at lourdes.edu/closure which will list all of the schools that have indicated a transfer pathway for Lourdes students, or schools with which we have a signed teach-out agreement. Read below to better understand the different transfer paths and what each one means for you.
There are three paths forward:
Teach-Out Agreement
A teach-out is a formal agreement between Lourdes University and a partner institution that is designed to make your transition as smooth as possible. While your specific Lourdes scholarships won’t carry over directly, teach-out agreements require that your out-of-pocket tuition and fee costs remain the same as what you are currently paying at Lourdes. Housing and food costs, if you plan to live on campus, will vary by institution. This option also ensures seamless credit transfer and places you in the same or similar program so your graduation timeline stays on track. Students in good academic standing are guaranteed admission through this agreement. Our primary teach-out partner is the University of Toledo, and we are actively working with additional schools who want to be teach-out partners.
Transfer to a Partner Institution
We have been approached by a number of schools who are interested in becoming transfer partners with Lourdes. While the specific benefits will vary depending on the institution, students who choose this path can expect advantages such as streamlined credit transfer and potentially automatic acceptance if you are in good academic standing. As partner agreements are finalized, we will share the details so you can evaluate which school might be the right fit for you.
Transfer on Your Own
You are also welcome to explore institutions entirely on your own. In this case, you would go through each school’s standard admissions process, and credit transfer decisions would be made by the receiving institution based on your transcript. We will make sure you have everything you need, including transcripts, records, and documentation, to make that process as straightforward as possible.
For a side-by-side look at how teach-out agreements compare to transfer pathways, visit: lourdes.edu/teachout/. The most current information on teach-out and transfer partners is always available at: lourdes.edu/closure.
No matter which direction you choose, we are committed to supporting you every step of the way. Our goal is to make sure you have the information, resources, and guidance you need to find the right fit and finish your degree.
Upcoming Transfer Opportunities
Representatives from the University of Toledo will be on campus Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the board room of the Franciscan Center. The UT team will include both admissions and academic representatives who can answer questions about curriculum, placement, course offerings, and the transfer process.
Financial Aid and FAFSA Updates
All students should file a FAFSA for the 2026-2027 school year if they have not already done so. Once you have determined where you plan to attend next year, you will need to add that institution’s school code to your FAFSA:
- Log in at studentaid.gov using your FSA ID
- Select your 2026-27 FAFSA form and choose “Make Corrections”
- Navigate to “School Selection” and click “Add a School”
- Search for your new institution and confirm your selection
- Review, sign electronically, and submit
Contact our financial aid office if you need assistance with this process.
We are profoundly grateful to our students and families for your trust, resilience and commitment to Lourdes University. We will walk this path with you, with compassion and responsibility, and with a deep respect for this community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. Questions should be directed to: teachout@lourdes.edu. We are here for you.
Thanks-
Dr. Beutel
