Elizabeth Wise joined the Department of Chemistry and Physical Sciences in 2001. She earned a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry with Stephen Weber, Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh and a B.S. in chemistry from The University of Toledo. As a junior at The University of Toledo, she participated in a one-year international exchange program with the University of Salford in England.
Dr. Wise teaches many of the department’s lower-level course offerings and LUC 101 College Connections. Her favorite courses to teach are CHM/CHL 182 General College Chemistry II and CHM 165 The Science of Art. Since 2006, Dr. Wise has guided her CHM/CHL 182 students in research projects, most related to the intersection between chemistry and art.
Having always been interested in art, Dr. Wise received a scholarship fellowship to study painting conservation in Florence, Italy, and she worked with the conservation team at the Toledo Museum of Art during a sabbatical leave.
