Interdisciplinary Studies
The Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies is designed to assist students who have already accomplished a great deal of college work. These may be students who have been out of school for some time or students who are completing an associate’s degree in a technical area. In each case, academic advisors work with students to identify their educational goals and to develop areas of concentration in the humanities, fine arts, natural science, social science, business studies or allied health. These areas of concentration involve at least 30 credits of study.
Each student concludes his or her program with either a capstone course or a sequence of courses that integrate the learning in the area of concentration. Most programs will require successful completion of ND 499: BA-IS Capstone (3 semester hours). Students pursuing a concentration in Natural Science are required to successfully complete BIO 402: Introduction to Research (1 semester hour) and BIO 410: Biology Seminar (minimum 2 semester hours).
