History, Political Science & Geography

History, political science, and geography deal with people and relationships in the historical, social, economic, political and psychological orders. The History Department desires to promote and to motivate an interest in historical knowledge and to explain the problems of the present in reference to their origins. The study of history is excellent preparation for careers in teaching, writing, government service, politics, law, foreign service, business, and public history institutions such as museums, libraries and archives.

Courses offered by this department may be used for general education requirements, an Associate in Arts Degree, a Bachelor of Arts Degree major or minor, or a Bachelor of Arts Degree Interdisciplinary Studies major.

Bachelor of Arts History Major
The Bachelor of Arts Degree with a history major includes 63 semester hours of general education courses and 33 semester hours in history, 18 hours of which must be at the 300 and 400 level taken at Lourdes College. Students should also take at least 14 hours of their electives at the 300 and 400 levels in order to meet the College requirement of 32 hours in upper level courses. Students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average in history courses. Other degree options include:
